Fort Lauderdale, Florida
I have not been to Fort Lauderdale in quite some time, meaning that plenty of new hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions have been built since I was there.
What I do recall is ocean front hotels in which you could experience the beach walking no more than thirty feet from the hotel doors. The sand was always clear of rocks and seaweed and coconuts could often be found. Upon entering the water, you could see many different sea shells half buried in the sand and occasionally some fish would swim by your feet.
Now I usually do not mention food, but the number one restaurant I remember is the Mai-Kai. It is a Polynesian dinner show that blew my mind in that nothing has come close to it. I would highly recommend going there while visiting Fort Lauderdale; but make sure to call ahead as they fill up quite quickly.
