There are not enough words to describe how much I love Nassau. White sand beaches, blue picturesque water and delicious food. If Nassau is not on your top five Caribbean places to see then it should be. I have been twice, once in 2002 and again in 2010.
In 2002, I stayed at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort overlooking Cable Beach, which had a four-star rating. I had not seen anything like it before. The view from the hotel room was out of a movie, endless blue water and you could see the drops in the ocean. Our hotel had coves along the shore and in one of them you could see large fish swimming around. The pool area was just regular sized (I mean there was a pool but it was not enormous or trail around the complex) with a large rock waterfall in the center. The Sheraton has since closed and become the Melià Nassau Beach, a three-and-a-half-star resort.
In 2010, I stayed at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort, which had a five-star rating. This is the resort to end all resorts. I literally never left the water unless it was to swim in the Ocean or go down a couple of waterslides. The beach front is clean and clear, so clear the fish swim right at your feet. The pool is some next level creation. I could swim normally or and what I did do was grab a raft and float along the rapids (lazy river was on the other side). This connected to two of the main waterslides via conveyor belt and so on. The other water slides that were not connected was near the front of the pool area where one side went into a shark tank and the other a straight drop. Booth were very exciting.
Now because the resort is huge, and I mean I did not see everything huge, they offer a bunch of excursions around the facility. One of which was a Dolphin Cay where you could swim with Dolphins! I immediately sign up and got to swim with them. It is everything you thought it would be and more.
Atlantis also had a variety of restaurants and shops, you never had to leave the resort. The staff was very friendly and courteous, I could not have asked for a better trip.
